Today in Music History, February 22

38 years ago today in 1975, The Average White Band  (a/k/a AWB) a Scottish funk/R&B band hit the top of the U.S. Charts with an unlikely instrumental called “Pick Up The Pieces.”  featured on their “Cut The Cake” album.  I think this might be the perfect karaoke song for people like me, who cannot sing….as it is mostly instrumental with a few shouts of the song title along the way.   NOW, do you know the name of the band, or any information on another band that released a sort of, tongue in cheek, answer to this hit?

Did you know the answer before writing this one out? Is it easier than it sounds?
