Today in Music History, March 12

42 years ago today in 1971 The Allman Brothers Band began recording “Live At The Fillmore East”  at that venue in NYC.

It was a double live album and became the band’s breakthrough success. It was released later that year in July and ranks at number 49 among Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

This video was filmed at that same venue about six months prior.
